The Big Pharaoh

10 commandments for Muslims.

i think the cartoon is disrespectful.
the general Muslim reaction, out of place, obsene, and
in the main, irresponsible.

Muslims must seek redress from the West in different ways
if they want Islam to be considered a sophisicated,
viable religion, and not a religion of violence.

so far, few westerns are convinced that Islam constructively guides practitioners. all we see is beheadings, exploding buildings, riots in the street. odd.. why would the west want to retreat to the dark ages.....

The Inquiry
White House Knew of Levee's Failure on Night of Storm
By ERIC LIPTON
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 — In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bush administration officials said they had been caught by surprise when they were told on Tuesday, Aug. 30, that a levee had broken, allowing floodwaters to engulf New Orleans.
But Congressional investigators have now learned that an eyewitness account of the flooding from a federal emergency official reached the Homeland Security Department's headquarters starting at 9:27 p.m. the day before, and the White House itself at midnight.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency official, Marty Bahamonde, first heard of a major levee breach Monday morning. By late Monday afternoon, Mr. Bahamonde had hitched a ride on a Coast Guard helicopter over the breach at the 17th Street Canal to confirm the extensive flooding. He then telephoned his report to FEMA headquarters in Washington, which notified the Homeland Security Department.
"FYI from FEMA," said an e-mail message from the agency's public affairs staff describing the helicopter flight, sent Monday night at 9:27 to the chief of staff of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and recently unearthed by investigators. Conditions, the message said, "are far more serious than media reports are currently reflecting. Finding extensive flooding and more stranded people than they had thought — also a number of fires."

THE MESOPOTAMIAN: 02/01/2006 - 02/28/2006
would like to draw attention to the statement issued by the venerable Al-Sistani, who while deprecating the blasphemous sacrilege, nevertheless clearly lays the blame on the extremists and Takfiris for the harm done to the image of Islam in the World, and need I remind you of the religious status of Al-Sistani. The rage of the Islamic world would be far more appropriate if it is directed against those who blow up mosques during prayer time, kidnap murder and torture innocent travelers, and all the other repertoire of atrocities committed in the name of Islam, It is this that is the real blasphemy and real affront to the name and reputation of our religion and its great founder the Prohpet (PBU), and not some silly cartoons in an obscure Danish paper that nobody would have noticed were it not for this artificial uproar of which the real agenda and purpose is all too apparent .

Republican Who Oversees N.S.A. Calls for Wiretap Inquiry - New York Times

all seem concerned given past history that the administration is withholding information or cherry picking. i think all of the NSA stuff would flow smoother if the white house worked with all of the intell committee adn were definitive about the program.

in truth, it's difficult to accept on face value, any assertions by cheney or bush given their history.. also if they didn't have anything to hide, they'd collect up friendly members and review the program. the fact that gonzalez and all seem unwilling to discuss specifics and are evasive adn that they uses unitary executive as an execuse to bypass FISA suggests they know they can't pass muster. directly...
i applaud congress woman Wilson a veteran, unlike bush or cheney.

Republican Who Oversees N.S.A. Calls for Wiretap Inquiry - New York Times

Vice President Dick Cheney reasserted that position Tuesday in an interview on "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer."
Members of Congress "have the right and the responsibility to suggest whatever they want to suggest" about changing wiretap law, Mr. Cheney said. But "we have all the legal authority we need" already, he said, and a public debate over changes in the law could alert Al Qaeda to tactics used by American intelligence officials

har har.. cheney lies again..
so AQ is so stupid that they don't understand what the US is doing.. cheney always includes a complementary Al queda reference, though spy programs are usually understood by friend or foe, the NSA thing is about the white house strictly asserting itself as the strongest of the 3 balancing powers.

gonzalez reports the white house believes it can do whatever it wants.. as long as it has a war on terrror its conducting... s that means no check and balance until the president says so.

i don't think this is what the founding fathers thought. and having exec branch ignore laws passed by the legistlative branch hardly seems in keeping with "uphold the constitution" as its basis is a balance of power. not overreaching or corruption.
